para.2. I am glad to learn that that his recommendations

as to junks are not to be adopted en bloc, as I had previously

imagined was the cuse.

Pura.3. ae Mr. Percebois had no opportunity of discovering

the duties of the clerical staff in this Department, beyond

those of the clerks in the junk office (which he incorrectly

organisation, efficiency, and supervision, are not borne out by

facts. While his statement that 3 clerks are employed in the

Correspondence office is untrue.

The estimate of the duties performed by Mr. McIver is most in-

correct and incomplete.

Para.7. The first sentence of this para. is a general estimate

based upon insufficient data. The remainder of the para. is

grossly untrue.

para.8. Mr. Chan Pui is a hardworking, reliable clerk, but

the statement that he dees"all the work of the Department" is

obviously ridiculous.

6. As the precis of the interview of 19th. July

para.3. is a deliberate lie from beginning to end.

MA

para.4 the second sentence of this para. is untrue.
